Turning left at the sign marked “Gejō” and gently making your way down the slope, you begin to hear the flowing sound of the Toki River.

An aged black gate comes into view. From here, you enter the quiet world of Eihō-ji Temple, home to two National Treasure buildings.

Keeping the great ginkgo tree at the front to your right and walking further in, you first arrive at the Kannon Hall (the Buddha Hall), the first National Treasure. Continuing on, you reach the second, the Founder’s Hall (Kaizan-dō).

Even after more than seven hundred years, these buildings remain standing in timeless beauty.

Yet more than their appearance, this place holds a mysterious power—one that gently reassures you that it is enough to be just as you are.
